Return Stolen Land, 2021
Linocut print
15" x 22"
This linocut piece is meant to illuminate the Indigenous-lead Land Back movement and to inspire acknowledgment for the Piscataway, Conoy, and Susquehannock Land that Baltimore occupies. Land Back calls for the return of political and economic control over land to the Indigenous people from which it was stolen, which is an imperative step in decolonization as well as climate justice.
Withdrawal, 2021
Oil on canvas
18" x 24"
This oil painting of a lighter is meant to represent the loneliness of addiction, on both an individual and systematic level. The presence of substance use and abuse in Baltimore as well as nationally is used to villainize lower-income communities of color, furthering the oppression of these marginalized groups and contributing to a loss of community among Baltimore residents. In addition, Baltimore is heavily policed and these same lower-income communities of color are disproportionately facing heavy carceral consequences for drug use instead of being offered compassion and space for healing.
