Simulated Travel: yet, my bags remained empty, 2021
Challenge sailcloth, fans
In previous sculptures, Lundak was already focused on spaces of travel and transition, especially airports. These small sculptures made from sailcloth mimic the materials of the kinds of outdoor adventures that felt safer this past year: camping, hiking, boating, kite flying. With short and long distance travel restricted and personal safety front of mind, going to a nearby park or field replaced more distant destinations.
